i own a White 2007 Chevy Tahoe LTZ.. isaw the same thing except it had more mods than my stock, but he had his lower bumper painted.. anyone know how you can paint it? is it a easy weekend job??

i basically wanna know if you can paint the chin guard easily.. it looks weird.. i rather keep it matching

maybe he meant that plastic chin gaurd under the front bumper? which is black on all tahoes.

unless im completely off.

i want to paint that to along with my side mirrors. it doesnt have a smooth surface so i dunno if you would have a shop smooth it down and primer it or watever.

im shur the mods know the deal.

If its not done right the paint will peal off. I saw an Avalanche that had it done but it looked like S*!t.

1 Remove the part.

2 Wash with HOT water and degreaser.(dish detergent will do in a pinch)

3 Then sand so the surface is as smooth as you want. If you sand first you may embed the releasing agent or other oils on the part. This plastic seems to have a plastic that tends to shred. You may choose to not sand. I don't mind the texture on this part due to it's location.

4 Prime with a adhesive promoter. 2 coats, follow instructions on can. Bullydog is a good choice

5 Prime with sandable filler primer 2 to 3 coats...don't sand through to first primer Sand as you go to smooth to your desired smoothness

6 Base coat with flex agent 3 coats

7 clear coat 2 or 3 coats

While it will look good,you'll have to be really careful parking where they have those curbstones or regular curbs. Good luck.

I can't keep from hitting stuff long enough to think about painting mine. I scrape it once a week. Not because I forget it's there or pull up too far. I keep scraping as I back into or pull onto inclines.
