retained accessory power.
Stupid question...whats that? Is that like the radio, stays on untill the door is opened power? Thinking the pigtail on the fuse block thats there for the headrest DVDs is maybe the source you need. Not sure, just switched mine over to that. I'll check and let you know.

That's exactly what it is. Allows power to the head-unit, windows etc. until you open up the driver's door.

Please let me know your results and if you find that "tap".

I wish the power outlets were also connected to RAP, instead of always being on. I can't tell you how many times my wife has left the portable Garmin plugged in and on all day! We have another vehicle (uh hum...not a Chevy) that gives me two outlets up front -- one is always on, the other is RAP.

Just revisiting this post. Has anyone found a retained accessory power source in the 2007 Tahoe?

I thought there was a previous post that said there was one available under the right (psgr) side of dash on the side that faces the door.

It's pointless of me to say so, but I've always thought 12V sockets should have been designed with one always-on and one ignition-driven connection point so that the plug itself would determine whether switched power was required.

But "they" don't ask me, LOL... otherwise I'd have Bluetooth and 110V outlets in my Suburban...

Actually, I meant each 12V plug should be designed to supply both switched and unswitched power. But I suspect it's pretty unlikely that such a well-established standard would ever be changed.

I don't know... there was a lot of talk a few years back about changing the in-car standard voltage to 24v. Might still happen.
