Default 2007 suburban and hd towing.. please help

So, I'm about to pull the trigger on an '07 burb without the hd trailering package. The rating is 5000 lbs vs ~7000 with the option. What is the diffference? On a 2010 it's a $230 option and says it's a transmission cooler. Is this ALL it is? I am having the dealer add the chevy tranny cooler to this truck and will assume that it will be then ok to tow ~7000? Am I way off base? Are the hitched themselves different? All of my searching leads me to think it's just the cooler. It's a 5.3L with 3.73 and does seem to have the oil cooler there already just no tranny cooler. I'm a little worried that I won't be fine towing my 23' 6300 lbs gvwr camper. It's probably ~5700 fully ready to camp. I always use a WD hitch also.

The maximum amount that a 2007 Suburban with the 5.3L engine and 3.73 rear axle ratio is 7,100 pounds. This would be with all applicable trailering packages on the vehicle. For 2010 the maximum trailering package is an external transmission fluid cooler, an external engine oil cooler and an integrated brake controller which is optional on the 1500 Suburban but standard on the 2500 model. If you get this package installed at the dealership then you should be able to pull the 7,000 pounds. I would double check with the dealership to make sure. I hope this helps you.

chris-me: Welcome to the forum.

The hitches are the same. If you get the trlr pkg from the factory, I believe you get a lower (numerically higher) axle ratio.
