Tahoe & Suburban The power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.

Cool 2007 Suburban LTZ Replacing front shocks

I've been searching for help on replacing my front shocks on my 2007 Chev Suburban LTZ with the premium ride system. Can I replace the front shocks with heavy duty shocks and not worry about the auto-ride shocks. I imagine the only problem would be I may get some warning about the suspension system. Any thoughts or help? Just trying to get a new shock without breaking the bank (which the premium shocks would be).

I am also searching for front shocks for my 2007 Suburban LTZ with the Z55 Autoride. My dealership quoted around $1k.

A local off-road shop says they've found ranchos that will fit, but they are "quicklifts" that will add 2". They've quoted around $600, including labor and taxes.

I am concerned how the lift will affect the look, ride and handling. I purchased the vehicle used about a year ago because I wanted a nice touring vehicle, not for off-road use.

I hope this helps you, digger, but I also would like to hear any thoughts or ideas before I decide what to do...

While you might be able to fit the non-Autoride shocks on, you'd still have to deal w/ the sensors. And you might be able to fake the computer w/ the correct resistor value, that might have implications for the ESC (Electronic Stability Control). But if you use Google, you'll find a treasure trove of info on this subject.
