2007 Tahoe A/C compressor cuts in and out
Hi all, my 2007 Hoe, when I turn on the AC at the dash the center of the compressor under the hood begins to turn (I assume the electric clutch is then working), it stays spinning for about 5 seconds and stops, then again 10 seconds later starts again, and then stops, etc...etc...like that. No cold air at the dash at all. Seems like the system might be turning on and then sensing that there's not enough pressure maybe???and then turning it's self off again? I haven't checked the system refrigerant pressure, and have no idea how, if you think that's the problem should I check it or just bring it in for service? Or should I attempt to check the refrigerant (134a) or the PAG refrigerant oil level? Or maybe the compressor is shot?
Thanks!!

Sounds like the low pressure switch may be kicking off the compressor due to low refrigerant. If you have no idea how to check, then I'd advise you to have a qualified shop check it out for you. If it's that low, then probably a leak somewhere that'll need to be fixed before adding expensive R134a.
If you decide to DIY, you can pick up a set of gauges at Harbor Freight for about $60. But if there's a leak, then you'll probably still need to take it in.

Thanks louis, I finally got this checked out. There appears to be a leak in the "rear pipes"?? According to the garage. $1700 fix!! WTH. I didn't get it fixed and am investigating fixing it myself. ANy idea where to get a complete picture of the layout etc... of the AC system in the '07 hoe?
Thanks!
Thanks!
