How do I disassemble the driver's side outside mirror? I need to repair the tilt mechanism - it won't tilt up and down.

It is a 2007 Tahoe LTZ. The mirrors are heated.

 

Is it available separately? The upper mirror cover pops off which exposes the insides. I switched my caps from black to white, The first one broke but the second one did not because I saw how it came off but the broken one did not matter since I was replacing them. Unfortunately I do not remember which direction they have to come off.

 

I got the mirror apart. You were right .. the back cover just pops off (it did need a little 'persuasion' - but not much). I now have the whole thing apart and am trying to figure out what the part number is for the tilt mechanism. I see 'MDPP0029D 751081 0316 21035 00' on the front of the mechanism - along with a patent number.

There is another ID on the back 'HEUT0038K'.

Will a dealer be able to order the part for me from these? (I want to put the mirror back together so I can drive it.

You need to call them they may not be serviceable separately.
