I'm a little over 25k miles now and I swear it's still getting better. The best I've got on a trip so far is 20MPG but it was almost all 55-60 MPH driving in the mostly flat upper peninsula of Michigan.

I dont have my manual here with me at work. But I read something in this post that created a question.

When the fuel light comes on how much further are you supposed to be able to drive. Is it a 20, 30, 40 miles left warning? thanks.

From my experience it is not a fixed number, more stop at the next gas station. I ran out twice already with this vehicle.

It’s not an exacting amount but the system is calibrated so that the amount of fuel left in the tank that triggers the low fuel warning indicator should be around 1.75 gallons.

Isn't there actually two warnings? The low fuel warning on the DIC, and I assume as you get close to empty the gas light will turn orange and the Nav unit will display a message (If you have this turned on in the menu). I have seen the DIC message, but never had it low enough to get the gas light to turn orange or the nav message to display.

Dave it should all happen simultaneously, Orange light, Audible Chime, DIC warning message and the Nav unit asking if you want the location of the nearest gas station.
There is only one sensor in the tank and when it triggers it should trigger every warning if the system in your Tahoe is operating correctly.

Thanks ZX. It appears that mine is not working correctly. Good thing I never drove it till the orange light came on. All i have ever seen was the DIC warning message, nothing else.

If that is the case then mine doesn't work so well either. I drive quite a bit and have had the DIC and Orange light on many times. Out of all those times only twice did the nav unit tell me I was low and ask me if I wanted to display the nearest gas station. I've checked the settings in the nav unit and everything is turned on. This isn't really a big deal because I still have the other two lights and the gauge. Talk about redundancy.

Well it appears that way and that's what others have experienced. I'm hoping for a little more improvement.

My instant mileage is consistently around 21 but when it averages out I am at 15 in town and 17 on the highway. I have noticed it has alot to do with how you drive it.
