2007 Tahoe Remote Start Add
Hey all, new here. I am 100% sure it's been beat to death, but couldn't find anything about this.
My pops has a 2007 Tahoe LT and I researched getting him factory remote start. Checked the RPO codes in the glove box and it reads "AP8" from which I understand that it is "remote start ready". Bought the part #19154444 which was the two fobs and the code for activation with included instructions. He took it to our local dealer and they said that it is not possible to add remote start to the vehicle and then charged him $20 to just program the fobs to unlock /lock the doors.
They're wrong, right?? How do I explain to them that they can indeed install them??

the remote start kit you bought is from general motors correct; not aftermarket?
the one way remote start kits for remote start ready vehicles come from gm and include.
2 remotes
an authorization code
and rpo label for the change in build
the dealership needs the authorization code for when they call their techline. this allows techline to release the updated programming. Once its released, the dealership can add the programming to the vehicle to enable the remote start system.
techline charges the dealership for this update so it will be passed down to the customer.
if you got the gm kit...the authorization code is in big red characters.
If that is the case ask for an explanation.
I can't say why they could not do this without seeing the kit you provided. Your father provided them with the entire kit and not just the fobs?

Oh yes. Everything you described in a neat little envelope. The paperwork the code is on includes instructions in like 4 languages and still said they couldn't do it because the "the truck doesn't have it"
