Default 2007 Tahoe w/ Nav

I am looking into buying a 2007 Tahoe with Nav, but I wanted to find out if you can use the navigation feature and listen to a cd or an iPod at the same time. I thought I remember looking into a Trailblazer awhile back and the book saying that a cd can't be used when using the navigation.

Also, where does the map cd/dvd go with this unit, is there a dedicated player for the navigation system?

Thanks for the help.

You can use the navigatin and the ipod at the same time. the ipod connects through a stereo input by the cd player slot. the only problem is that it doesnt charge the ipod, but it gives a lot better signal than with using a fm transmitter. all you need to do is get a stereo headset cord and plug it into the ipod and the hole by the cd slot. then switch on the aux input and the ipod should play. the songs can only be changed by using the ipod controls.

On the newer models there are two slots, one for the cd/dvd and the other one for the nav disc. the nav unit slides down allowing you to access the nav disc drive. you can run your navigation with any music source. the only thing you cant do is watch dvds in the front while the vehicle is moving.

One problem is that you cant listen to a cd while there is a dvd playing in the back seat. Thats when you are limited to an ipod, satelite radio, or regular radio.

Thanks for the response.

How do you get the nav unit to slide down to expose the nav cd slot? I'll be looking at one this weekend and wanted to see if it had both players.

Well if the nav disc isnt already in the slot, which at the dealership they usually arent, then you go to the nav menu and it will have a button that says insert nav disc. once you push it then the unit slides down to allow the nav disc to be inserted.

FYI, remember that there are two different types of radios with the nav screen. One will only show the nav screen while the other one will be able to play dvds and show the nav screen.
