sorry to bring up old questions, but I just upgraded from a 2003 to a 2008 and I thought I would see an increase in MPG, especially on the highway with the flex fuel..Is that all just BS? I am getting 12-14 on wide open freeway? Is there something I am doing wrong? I understand it is a tahoe and not a cruze, so the mileage is what it is, but I thought it would be better..thanks in advance for your help

If you are using E85, then that's about right as ethanol has ~25% less energy thereby giving about 25% less mpg.
Personally I get about 17-19 mpg (both the 07 & 10) on hwy at 70-75 mph.
If you meant AFM (V4/V8 mode), then it usually doesn't go into V4 mode over about 55-60 mph unless you have a tailwind. At least that's my experience w/ two of them.

dido what sharks numbers are I see about the same maybe a tiny bit better but keep it under 70 most of the time...
Shark I think also suggested at one time and I have found to be mostly true is using the tow/haul mode in city driving helps with MPG, suspect going into over drive at lower speeds tends to put more strain on the engine and requires more fuel...

I've pulled off 22 highway only in my 09 w/the 6 speed.
I wouldn't run E anything in anything if you want it to 1. run and 2. last...
if you ever see any E10, 15, or 85 you are here by required to burn it all as fast as you can, preferablly by using a flare gun in a large open area, while filming for youtube.

i used full gas in my John Deere and weed whacker, and jet skis
it's more per gallon, but easier than adding E10 stuff to the gas tanks to make it 'safe' for my mower / weed whacker.
there was a web site i used before:
Ethanol-free gas stations in the U.S. and Canada
it's BS that john deere won't warranty ethanol problems if the Gov't says E10 is "ayy ok"
they want u to buy their stuff to make it safe.
now the gov't is going to subsidize E15 pumps!
the whole thing is scam:
