Default 2009 Suburban - fuel pump - smoke tailpipe

Hi there, looking for some general guidance. We have a 2009 chevy suburban that we'd like to keep another couple of years as a third car. I know that the fuel pump/sender is leaking and needs to be replaced. But also, there is smoke that comes out of the tailpine when runniing now. Curious if the problem with the fuel pump could be related to the smoke coming out when runnuing? Just trying to figure out what we are in for if we try to keep the car. Thanks!

Welcome to Chevy. How many miles on your Sub? Smoke shouldn't be related to your fuel pump, but more likely burning oil. How often do you need to add a quart? When do you notice the smoke - all the time, at start up?
Leaking fuel is a fire risk, please fix that ASAP!!

Thanks! Yes, not driving it now until we get that fixed. About 185K miles on the suburban. I am original ower and have been pretty religuous about changing the oil regularly since the beginning. I would say we are adding a quart about every 2-3 weeks but we don't really drive it a lot of miles these days. At this point, it is smoke at startup, and then continuously while running, though sometimes its a little and then sometimes it will blow out a lot.

Sounds like you are burning alot of oil. Our 05 smoked badly at start up after 200k miles and was using a quart every 800 miles when we traded it. Sounds like you are ready for a new motor, rebuild or new ride - sorry.
