2009 Tahoe Air Suspension Compressor gave up

After 137,000 miles, a few days ago I went to start my Tahoe and I didn't hear the usual 20 seconds of air compressor noises.
It now makes only 'some' small noises, making me think the compressor is shot. It's been a few days and there are no errors on the dash yet. I assumed it would take a few ignition cycles for the computer to realize it can run the compressor all it wants and the back isn't getting any higher.
Funny though, the rear doesn't seem 'low' either.
I've found the compressor (whole assembly) for like $160 or so online.
so.. replace it... or just leave it alone? I don't tow with it anymore... or are the shocks going to blow out if I don't install a new compressor?
thanks

New compressor installed. It's roughly 75% quieter. the old one was rusted to hell and back.
The new one runs for approx 10 seconds on engine start. the old one would run for approx 30 seconds on engine start.
you don't even hear the new one over the engine noises.
