Default New Nav Disc now listed available

I see that GM NavDisc now shows the new 2010 NavDisc in stock and available. I wonder if I will be able to get one as the last of my 2 free upgrades for the 2007 Tahoe LTZ or will they try and screw me by saying that because it is now 2010 I missed out?

Default I take it all back

Well I received a response from the new GM NavDisc fulfillment centre [Helm Inc] today indicating that they have in fact sent out the new Disc to me. My thanks to GM Nav Disc for honoring the 2 free upgrade promise. My new 2010 disc is on its way.

@Sabrtooth,
Not sure of the version number but according to the GM Nav Disc web site it is:
2010 DTS/SRX/Avalanche/Suburban/Tahoe/Yukon/H2/Silverado/Sierra Nav Disc
GM p/n 20861673

I can post the version number when I get it.

Would you mind making an ISO when you get it

I actually already have the 2010 Disc from an STS which works fine in my truck, but it doesn't have the newest firmware for my unit. I'm trying to get ahold of the actual 2010 disc for this unit so that I can update the firmware.

How do you know there is a firmware update on that disc?

Default Disappointing

Well I have just remembered another beef I have with the GM NavDisc.

I excitedly opened my new 2010 v5.C disc today and swapped out my old 2009 v4.C disc only to learn that there are few if any updates for the area in which I live. We have a new 6 lane toll bridge and associated roadways that opened up over a river here (6+ months ago) and it is not on the new disc. Plus there are several other missing roadways that have been in use for some time now.

They absolutely need to have a way that you can confirm the new versions have updates that are of use to the buyer before someone shells out $200 for a disc that provides no benefit to the purchaser.

I did check out the web site for the NavDisc manufacturer and it does show several of the new road systems yet these updates are still not on the new GM disc. http://www.teleatlas.com/Support/MapFeedback/index.htm

Very disappointing.

ps. there was no firmware/software update when in installed the new 2010 v5.C disc.

thank you for the update - we have the 3.0 version, do you know if there are any firmware/software updates between that version and the new? the 3.0 has most roads around my area but of course not some of the newer ones, I am trying to decide to update or not...

I do seem to recall a software update on the V.4.C disc.

Further investigation shows the "NEW" 2010 V5.C disc was compiled in April 2009. How does GM get off claiming a new NAVDISC upgrade for 2010 and charging $200 when it uses data older than April 2009?

Looks like I will have to wait until January 2011 (another 12 months) then pay $200 for a disc that will hopefully show new roads in my area built 8 months ago.

Anyone know if you can grab the appropriate .idx files from another GPS Mapping system and recompile the NAVDISC DVD (i.e. take the latest Garmin data over overwrite the outdated GM NavDisc data?)
