Default 2010 Suburban USB not working

Hello there! I'm new here so please excuse any mistakes I make!
We very recently purchased a 2010 Suburban LTZ. We have noticed a message pop up on the screen that says USB Error. This pops up about every 30 seconds. I also have tried using the USB port in the console with multiple devices and nothing happens. I'm very new to the features of this vehicle so maybe I'm missing something but it doesn't seem like there is even power to the USB and we shouldn't be seeing the error message. My goal with this would be to plug in my iPhone and play my music through the radio and be able to use the steering wheel etc to adjust. Is this even possible?
Thank you so much if you can help me!!
