It's not possible. My '11 Tahoe LTZ has 41 control modules in it. My truck has every factory option in it. Every feature or option has a computer-controlled module to run every option through the CAN network. No heated wheel option in '11 so there is no way to add in a heated wheel with correct factory controls. A complicated ''hack'' may be possible but for heated wheel its not worth the giant hassle. A pair of gloves is cheaper and easier.
If It could be done simply I would have done it a long time ago.

 

Repairman54, would you know the simplest way to disable power to heated steering wheel switch?
dealer wanted $1,400.00 to replace heated wheel…I can’t afford. Just want to cut power to wheel
So nobody turns it back on and it starts smoking again. Dealer confirmed heating element has short.
dealer said they wouldn’t disable power to the on/off button.

 

have you tried checking your fuse panel?

 

fuse panels don’t identify a fuse specifically for the heated steering wheel. Nor have I found a video showing how to do that. I have looked a diagrams of diff fuse panels and none show a fuse for this wheel.

 

the owners manual should describe what the fuses do.

mountainmanjoe, thanks for reply, unfortunately the schematic is for 2007, my Avalanche is 2012, I have looked
at numerous documents and YouTube videos specifically labeled 2012 and found them to vary. I find the 2007
schematic hard to interpret…I am not an electrical guy. I can’t even figure out how to find the two “posts”
you refer me to.

If I remember correctly, the fuse for my heated steering wheel was along the steering column.
The shroud around the column, which covers the turn signals switch must be removed, and an inline fuse should be visible.
