Default How do I increase power

Hello folks, I'm asking about possible upgrades I can give my truck to give it more power and efficiency. It's a 95 K1500 with the 5.7 and the original trans(rebuilt). It has about 370k miles on it, but doesn't leak a drop of oil. It also idles and runs strong, sitting at a red light you won't even know the engine is on. So I'd rather not replace the engine unless I have to. My problem is that it is slow and a gas guzzler. I'm not looking for insane power increases since that would kill mpg and probably the old engine. I just don't want it to take a whole 60 seconds to get to highway speeds while only avg 14mpg. My budget for this project is gonna max out at $5k. If anyone knows what I can do with this budget, please let me know. Thank you!

P.S. Upgrading this is worth it to me since it has zero body or frame rust and no dmg, with almost pristine interior. I love my big boat that floats the roads.

Offhand, with that mileage,I'd say rings are worn and compression is down
