Default Need power help 95 c2500 V8 5.7L

Alright i have a 95 C2500 silverado with a V8 5.7L... great truck minus the 10mpg no matter what but i love her. But here's the problem I WANT MORE POWER i have what you might call a lead foot. I didn't get my license till i was 18 graduating my senior year not even a year later i was sitting in court with a criminal speeding ticket, THis leads on to why i dont just go buy a 74 nova, 67 mustang, a roadrunner, a little ricer, or even a street bike. IF i were to do any of the above i would literally get raped by my insurance at 19. So the solution take my sleeper 1995 pickup Beef up the engine and still have something to put the thrill of driving in my life... Thank you guys for any help. I currently have 161,000 miles on her so i may have to do some rebuilding. I really just want to know what i can do to get more power out of her...

Forgot to add earlier i currently have 161k on the motor, should i be more worried about a rebuild??? IF so can i get an estimate on about how much you think it would cost. If so should i be upgrading internals while doing this? IF so what kind of upgrades and rough estimates please... thank you

I had to replace the catalytic converters in my 99 Yukon arounf 170,000 miles. I started off by getting poor gas mileage, then poor performance, then eventually getting an intermittent spark problem. I replaced the cats, and ended up with alot more power not to mention my fuel ecomomy jumped from 10 MPG to 16...
