While I had my Suburban in to look at other issues, I asked them to see if they could tell me why the 60 part of the 60/40 bench will not fold up. It appears that the latch in the center of the vehicle is seized, and will not open up. They said they tried to spray it, and even tried to pry it open with a screwdriver but they could not get it open.

They quoted me $400 just for the replacement latch. (Plus labor.) My thought is that I should be able to find a junk yard seat with a working latch and replace it, but the mechanic was explaining the process and it seemed like it's maybe more difficult than I think.

I tried looking online and I can't find any YouTube videos of anyone doing this same thing.

Has anyone had to do this? Has anyone resolved a problem like this without replacing the latch? Can anyone point me to a how-to online to see how hard this might be?
