2011 Suburban A/C Epoxy Smell
Hello all, I hope I am posting in the correct section.
I am having a weird condition on my 2011 Suburban 2500. Most of the time the A/C works fine.
Sometimes, we get an incredibly strong odor of epoxy or glue when we turn on the A/C. Every time we get the odor, the AC works fine. Because the odor is so strong, it makes me nervous. I have kids in the car, and I would hate for the odor to be toxic in any way.
Has anyone ever had this issue or heard of it? The vehicle is low(ish) miles at 55k with no accident history. I mention this because I don't (think) the epoxy smell is actually epoxy from a previous repair attempt.
In the interest of full disclosure, the A/C is under performing intermittently. Sometimes, it just doesn't want to blow nearly as cold as it can. For instance, I can drive to the store sweating, then when I am on the way back home, it is colder than a polar bear's toe nails. I don't get it.
Thanks for any responses to this.

Dealt with the same problem in my 2011. Found out it was a slow A/C leak near the rear as the suburbans have a rear A/C. Quoted me $3k for the fix. Apparently they have to gut the interior to run new lines. $1500 for labor, $1000 for the heat core they assume they will destroy in the process... Plus tax.
Depends on where the leak is.
Although, not wanting to pay that amount, if you are lucky, they can splice it for $100 or so to fix. I'd go with option 2 if possible.
