Default 2011 Tahoe Nav Bose Sound option issue

Hello Everyone, new to the forum.

I just took ownership of a 2011 Chevy Tahoe LTZ, loaded to the gills last friday. I noticed today that in the sound options of the Bose navigation screen that the "surround" button is greyed out. I know over the weekend that I had set the sound option to "surround". I can pick all the other options (Normal, Rear, Driver) but no "surround".

Any ideas what might be causing this issue? I have not called the dealer yet. I was hoping that somebody would have a quick fix or tell me where to look. I bought this truck 3.5 hrs away and would like to resolve this with the least amount of pain. Thanks for any and all help.

Welcome to the forum.

I believe it depends upon the source. Try a CD or XM and see if you can get surround then.

73shark,

That worked. Radio does not use that functionality I guess? Do you happen to know why? Seems kinda funny that it would not work for the Radio. Thanks for the smart thinking.

I suspect it is an analog vs digital thing.

Yep, I also have a 2011 Tahoe LTZ and found the same thing. At least it remembers you have surround set for XM and CD and will switch it back when you change back to a digital source.

One thing I don't like is the Speed Compensated Volume. The manual says it has settings for low, medium, high or off but mine is just on or off and it turns the volume up too loud at speed so I leave it off. I would really like the feature if I could adjust the amount of compensation. Does yours allow the low, medium and high settings?

Honestly I don't remember but I think it does but it is useless as it has almost no effect.
