Default 2012 Suburban - Parking brake stopped working

I have a 2012 Chevy Suburban LT 1500.

All of the sudden the emergency brake just won't engage. The pedal is still spring loaded but there is no clicking when you depress it and it doesn't stay down. Anybody run into this before or have any ideas how to pursue a fix or does it just need to be replaced?

Does the brake still grab if you hold the pedal down - that would tell you the cable is good. Sounds like the ratchet has failed; maybe just a spring needs replacement.

No, it never grabs. It has the "spring-loaded" feel when you depress the pedal and let go it snaps right back, but there is not "ratchet" sound and it never grabs. I feel like I can always find a YouTube for anything that goes wrong with my cars but I can't find anything on this.
