Default 2013 Tahoe USB port fails to recognize one iPhone7 but recognizes another iPhone7

Help!

We just bought a 2013 Tahoe LTZ, great condition, with 36k on it. Love it!

We were disappointed to learn that this generation predated MyLink and the bluetooth does not work for music. But I undertsood the USB would.

We have 4 phones in our family (I am the holdout to Android).

My wife's iPhone6 plays music through the USB, as does my daughter's iPhone7+. My son just got an iPhone7 and when connected to the USB we get "This media is not compatible".

Any clues?

Have you powered down then power back up the phone in question, then try connecting?
