Default 2015 Tahoe Leak and Mold

I am sick to my stomach right now. I bought my 2015 Tahoe LTZ in Nov of 2014. I love this vehicle. I drive it at least two hours a day taking my kids to and from school, running errands and it is our family road trip car. I have five kids so it is our family car and I paid 65k for her. About a month ago on a weekend trip a notice came on that said Service Stabilitrac. Along with another ominous message. I took it in to Ocean Crest in Warrenton Oregon where I bought it and they told me they couldn't find anything wrong. A week ago I got another message that said my side alert needed service. At that time I noticed water and a bit of mold growing on the right hand front and back carpet. I made an appointment to take the truck in.
Well- today- we were getting in and the smell was awful! My husband and I looked under everything to find the source. The front and middle passenger seats are wet with mold. But my husband pulled back the carpet between the second and third row and what we found was shocking! Mold is covering everything! All of the carpets are wet. How does this happen?! And what do I do? We searched for a source of the leak. The back latch well has standing water. When I wipe it away more comes in. I am so mad. I have my kids breathing the air in this car. It is supposed to be safe. My son has asthma and was recently in the hospital for pneumonia. My daughters have allergies. I need some guidance. I take my truck in on Tuesday.

Welcome to the forum.

Wow for sure get your vehicle back to the dealership ASAP.
Do you have a sunroof?
Has your shark fin antenna been inspected for a known leak issue ?
Have you had a lot of rain recently to justify a possible leak?
have you ran the rear AC alot, possible the drain is blocked?
Have you verified its not a liquid spill from within, no jugs of water have been transported, ice chest, wet clothing, full fish tank etc... you get the idea...

it's going in tomorrow. I am skeptical that the mold can really be removed completely once the leak is found. And if they have to replace the carpet- will it look the same? The wetness seems to me coming from the back right side. Soaking. We have had rain- but this seems like a more serious problem. Water pools up in the back latch. Coming from some place internal.

as long as your mileage is under 36,000 it should all be warranty and if they replace the carpet it should be the exact same carpet you had.

So far they say they will take the carpet out and clean it. I told them I wanted it replaced and the guy got kind of snotty about it. I really don't think mold can be fully cleaned out.

I would agree with you, anything I would trust to kill the mold would destroy or discolor the carpet. That's not my area of expertise either though.
