2016 LTZ "Hands Free" Liftgate - Closes At Will
2016 Burb LTZ...probably the 15th Suburban I have owned.
The LTZ has the hands free option (wave your foot under a sensor and it will go up or down).
But lately it has been closing at will....two quick beeps and down it comes. Almost chopped my 5' nothing wife in half this past Sunday.
Dealer says nothing wrong...says wife must be tripped the sensor. She was nowhere near it...and this is not the first time this has happened.
Anyone else had this issue?

Easy to tell, open gate using hands free don't stand near it. If it closes you are right. I had similar problem. Opened gate. It bounced after it extended and closed. I also noticed that it did not open all the way, 2 inches shorter than before. I took a cellphone video to prove it. They replaced the 2 struts in back. Works fine now.
I have a 2016 Suburban LTZ and had a similar weird issue. I opened the back lift gate for a second and let the automatic lift take over. I then realized my subs for dinner were going to hit the ground so I reached in while it was cracked about a foot. This caused the gate to slam down hard, about taking out my arm. Keeping an eye on it.
