Tahoe & SuburbanThe power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.
I bought a 2021 Chevy Tahoe without the trailer brake controller already installed. I went to have trailer brakes installed using an aftermarket wiring harness that the company said would work with my vehicle and camping world could not find a female adapter to hook the harness into. The dealership was no help as they didn’t know. Does anyone know if the Spectrum Brake Controller Module by CURT will work with my vehicle and if so, where can I find the female side of the wire harness?
can't say without seeing the vehicle build sheet. Even if the blunt cut wiring is not present, you could have a shop run the brake controller power wire, 12 volt constant wire to the rear of the vehicle and run power, brake input and grd to the controller.
It's a complaint in a Traverse forum also. Blunt cut wire in them was under the carpet and rear end was tucked up in the rear fender. No dealer knew where it was either.
Should be present with a V90 tow option. No easy plug in connectors in the Traverse's either.
Yes, sad but true, for the 2021 Chey Tahoe, there is no female plug for the brake controller. Per the below pictures, you have to remove the top panels, and find the loose wires. (The diagram GM gives you, and the male adapter are completely useless). At least you know.
At least the harness is there.
Wireless Curt brake controller is the only brake controller listed in the Chevy accessories catalog currently also so maybe that's why.
We just bought a 2011Yukon Denali XL, loaded. Even though it had factory 2" receiver, etc., we had to have an aftermarket brake controller installed by a trailer place 2 miles away.
I have installed such in way-older GM SUVs, didn't want to touch such installation myself on the 2011....
