Default 2024 Suburban RST LED Reverse lights

my husband replace the reverse and brake light on my 2024 suburban rst to LED, he did end up adding a resistor to get rid of the error for the turn signal, we still get error when we reverse about the reverse light, but now our back up camera goes black and we cant access anything on the screen, we have to park the car and press and hold the hang up phone button on the steering wheel to reset it every time i have to reverse. any suggestions on how to fix this.

A lot of backup cameras are powered by the reverse light power at the back of the car. If he added a resistor to make an LED work in place of bulbs, and that resistor is before the takeoff of power for the backup camera, it is probably screwing with the camera power.

My question is can I plug a backup light into the seven pin trailer electrical connector? It worked on my 2009 suburban but doesn't seem to work on the 2024 vehicle. I have the trailer package. If I run the trailer tests from the dash, the pin that runs the backup lights works momentary. When I put the vehicle in reverse, the external backup light does not come on. Is there something special? Is there something that the trailer outlet looks for and doesn't see and therefore doesn't send power to the backup pin? I have the light in two versions, one with LED's and the other with incandescent. Neither works on the suburban. Jim

I've read that the vehicle wants to see at least 80 milliamps of current to flow, that would translate to about 200 ohms of resistance. I'd recommend a 180 ohm resister across the leds to fool the vehicle computer. I have not tried this, hope it helps. Jim emptech@surewest.net
