210K Miles, how long will she last?
Hello all,
My 2008 Chevy Suburban has 211K miles on it now
I travel about 300 miles per week, so in about 12 months, I will have 230K miles on it.
1. How long will this truck last me?
2. I would like to keep the truck til +300k, anything I can do to maintain it so I don't suffer any major mechanical expenses soon.
3. Is it recommended I drive the truck 300 miles per week? My only truck on a tight budget.
Thank you all

If the truck was well maintained through it's life, it will last till 300,000 miles and more. Were the oil and filters changed regularly? This makes a big difference in making an engine last. Also was the transmission fluid and filters changed regularly?
I keep the change per the recommended sticky on window.
I have not been consistent with changing the filters, but I will start.
Transmission Fluid:
1. I have not changed this yet. The chevy dealership said to not change the transmission fluid cause its too many miles on the truck. He said if I change, it may ruin the transmission.
Do I need to change the transmission fluid?
Thank you kindly
Re: transmission..... I have heard both thoughts on this, just as your mechanic said and also others who stand by the routine schedule maintenance. From my experience with my past 2 suburbans (94 & 01) that carried over 190K, I had never changed the transmission fluid, only checked it via the dipstick during oil change intervals to make sure it didn't appear burned/discolored or odd odored. I never had any issues with transmissions on either truck. I am on my 3rd (07 suburban) now with 115k and also have no intentions of a transmission service but to each their own. Heat is its #1 enemy and I never overheated or towed heavily with my Burbs so I feel pretty confident with my decisions.
Good luck on whatever you decide and maybe ask your mechanic to elaborate/explain his transmission decision. I do find it funny that it was a dealership that said not to do it.

i have heard more people say not to change the trans fluid with higher mileage than people who say its okay to do so. in my opinion, just make sure its full and not too discolored or burnt. unless you can verify when the last time a trans fluid change was done, i personally wouldnt change the fluid. my burb has 295k miles on it, luckily it shifts pretty damn flawlessly and you bet your *** io wont be changing that fluid.
What does the trans fluid look like and smell like? red and clean or brown and burnt smell?
some people think the detergents in the new fluid will loosen up some debris and it will move into the valve body.
Has never happened to me but I guess its possible.
fluid does break down due to heat, friction material and hard parts will wear.
the first scheduled trans fluid change is the most important of all. It will remove 80% of particulates that circulate through a transmission in its lifetime.
