Default 26in Rims on 2011 Tahoe

Whats up fellas, I'm the new guy who probably didn't use the search function correctly. I was hoping to get some help before buying some rims for my truck.

I was wondering how much rubbing, if at all, to expect if I put some 26's on my truck at stock height. Thanks for any info!

Welcome to the forum.

A lot depends on the wheel width, offset, and tire size but from what I've read in the forums since the NBS debutted, you will have some to a lot of rubbing. For minor rubbing, you can use a heat gun to reshape the inner fender liner. If it's hitting the frame, then you're screwed.

So what would be the ideal width and tire size on a 26 to have the least amount of rubbing. If not I think I am better off going with a 24.

Thanks for the info!

Since the factory offers a 24" option, I'd check to see what the width and offset are and what size tires they use. Sorry I don't have that info. Someone else here might tho.

T31,

Couldn't find the Offset for your OEM, but...
A 295/25/26 would keep you around the same diameter. (+0.2")
Those need a 10x26 Rim and are only about 1.3" wider than a 17" OEM.

Offset is kinda hard to check when you have a Tire mounted, but...
You could pull a wheel, check the distance from the inside of the Lug Bolt Plate
to the inside Bead. Check your existing clearances, and see if you can come
up with a Rim which is close. HA, you might have to have whoever
un-box a few styles, but that's one way to be as sure as you can be.

Keep in mind, that with the reduced Sidewall, you're going to impact your
load capability by about 1000 lbs, and be sure to run pretty high
Cold Inflation Pressure in them. I'd say at least 40 lbs.

Good Luck !

Thanks for the info! I think the safe bet is to just go with 24's. But my next question is, if I do go with 24's and I lower it, how much should I lower it and what should I go with to have a smooth ride or just stay stock?

I'm just trying to avoid any new problems now and/or problems in the future. Thanks!

I doubt that you can lower much, if any, w/ 24s w/o some rubbing issues.

T31,

Lower it ?, I really don't think that would be necessary. It's possible that in selecting a 24" Rim, it may be that it would increase your height about 0.5" or so, that's not a lot. But, which ever Tire you go with, be sure to select a Rim which is of the same width as the Tread of the Tire.
