Default 4.10 Differential swap on 5.3L vortec Suburban 2006

My parents bought a 2006 suburban back in 2006. It’s been in the family and they did not take care of it, so now it looks like one of those crack cars but Chevy use to build great cars and some how the truck still runs.

my goal is to completely modernize this suburban and make it an absolute power/towing machine. I know the 5.3L can push out a lot naturally aspirated but I want throw a turbo on it. that’s a discussion for another time.

The suburban is a Z71 but 2wd 😔, I would like to put a 4L80e trans and add the 4x4. And the differentials to be 4.10. I will keep this truck so long as I live, so before yall say” it’s not worth spending that much time on it” just know it’s time will run the course of my time.

what do you guys think? My end goal is to use this vehicle to tow and do the occasional off-roading when I have my own family. My main goal is to use this vehicle for its intended purpose. 1.family and 2. Towing, and I pray one day I can do it with my own family, since I never got that as a kid.

Sorry I guess I don’t really have a question I just wanted to share my thoughts haha. Let me know what yall think because I’m going to be on here asking a lot of questions along the way. Thank you guys!!

not just time. Money. Bags and bags of money.

You're better off saving for something newer.
If this was a second car ... a project to tinker with on weekends, then sure. But I think you're asking way too much.

I know we get emotionally attached to our vehicles. I'm guilty of the same. But it comes at great cost. Just to set your expectations.
