4 Wheel Drive Auto
I just wanted to make sure that everyone fully understands the proper operation of the 4X4 Auto feature on Tahoe's that are equipped with this feature (most of them).
We are getting lots of complaints from customers that leave the system in "Auto" and then hear strange noises or feel the front differential lock while turning at slow speeds, it's also hard on the front differential to be in Auto on dry roads.
Excerpt form owners manual:
"AUTO (Automatic Four-Wheel Drive):This setting is ideal for use when road surface traction conditions are variable. When driving your vehicle in AUTO, the front axle is engaged, but the vehicle's power is primarily sent to the rear wheels. When the vehicle's software determines a need for more traction, the system will transfer more power to the front wheels. Driving in this mode results in slightly lower fuel economy than Two-Wheel Drive High."
In a nutshell, DO NOT select "Auto" if you are driving on dry road's, 99.9% of the time the average driver should use 2WD.

RE: 4 Wheel Drive Auto
Thanks for the update. Since the 4 wheel drive is only used by me in snow or ice conditions (maybe 5 times a year) should I exercise it for 2 or 3 milesa few times a year?
