Question 4l60e question

286,000 miles and starting to show signs it wants some help. I get a pretty good 2-3 shift delay but most of the issues are either with kickdown confusion or slippage out of lockup back into OD. I bought the vehicle in 2004 and I've done nothing but change fluid/filter over the years and miles.

A GM mechanic mentioned these things apparently should be getting software updates, as needed. If this is the case, I have never had this done.

Considering the current behavior, I'm thinking it is time for an overhaul of some sort.

Question is have a shop rebuild it or buy one which is already rebuilt and have a swap done.

Thoughts or other experiences others choose to share?

always post your vehicle info please

If you plan to keep the vehicle a while, then I recommend a dyno tested re-manufactured unit with a good guarantee from a large reputable vendor (Jasper, Powertrain Products, etc.), installed by a trans specialist. And be sure he flushes out the cooler and lines (which he should already know)
software updates weren't really a thing 20 years ago. Manufacturers didn't put out half-done cars. This GM mechanic must be a gen-z or something.

Thanks. I have a friend who did business with Monster and they are very satisfied with their purchase so I may go that way.

My bad, 2001 Suburban LS, 5.3, 2WD

I believe that is a 4L60E in there if I'm not mistaken.
