Default Was 4x4 Lo an option?

We bought a used 2013 Suburban 1500 LT, and I am wondering if 4x4 lo was an option? It doesn't look like mine has it.

I saw the dial with 4x4 at the dealer and assumed it had 4x4 hi and lo, but never asked and didn't really look into it at the time. Definitely my fault.

So, is 4x4 lo hidden somewhere on this truck, or do I just not have it?

If it was an option and I don't have it, anyone know what the sand/beach driving capabilities of a 4x4 hi only 1500 suburban are? I'd like to take it on the beach, but with a heavy truck and no 4x4 lo, I'm a little hesitant.

I did put the ReadyLift 2.25" lift and 275/60 R20 Wrangler Duratraks on it. Maybe they can help me not need 4x4 lo.....maybe.

I believe that at some point they did make low range an option. I've used it... twice in 6 years... and even then it may have been fine without it. On my Wranglers you need low... 3' deep in mud and rock crawling... on the road trucks... not as much...

It was an option on the 2010 model.

Default RPO Codes from 001 to ZYN

Greetings Robert, welcome to the Forum.

In the glove box of your Burb there is a placard/sticker, which has several codes on it. They're called RPO. These are the codes to the accessories and build type of that/your vehicle.

I'm not certain just what the code is for 4WD, but below is a link which will let you know what those codes mean. Just look up one code at a time, it's very informative.

My understanding is GM did this to help meet new fuel economy requirements. It reduced weight and drag. I figure it's less stuff to go wrong. I won't be rock crawling with this beast.

How do you like the lift?
