Question 5.3 replacement advice needed

So I am about to have to replace my 5.3 in my 2000 Tahoe LT. Any suggestions on where I can get a good NEW engine that won't break the bank too bad? I'm looking for a long block. Don't like what I've seen in the way of customer reviews about Jasper.

You can also get your engine rebuilt or buy an already rebuilt one!

yes, indeed. Does anyone have suggestions for a good supplier of rebuilts? I'm in the Houston, Texas area but not having experience - not going to pull up the yellow pages.
Personal recommendations are by far, the way to go!
Thanks!!

Default 5.3 replacement

hi, I did a lot of research on 5.3 replacements and decided on a Ls33. It is an aluminum 5.3 with high compression pistons a little peppier cam that has a lot more torque and h.p. in the lower rpms where we need it. has about 50 more horsepower than my previous 2002 5.3 and weighs 150 pounds less. I said all that to say it ROCKS! you will have to research which years will bolt in your truck. I had the used engine rebuilt and had a friend retune it and I could not be more happy.
