It seems to be true. They show the 6.2L as an option on the Chevrolet site right now, but you have to build it as a LTZ two wheel drive. If you select 4X4 it wont give you that engine option.

Anyway later on is it possible for an engine swap maybe? from the 5.3 to the 6.2?

Yep, the 6.2L 4X4 may even make it into late 2008 model year production; but 09 for sure.

The reason for the 2WD being offered first is that the 4X4 (not AWD) system to handle the 6.2L's extra power is still in developmental test out for this 1/2-ton platform.
