It seems to be true. They show the 6.2L as an option on the Chevrolet site right now, but you have to build it as a LTZ two wheel drive. If you select 4X4 it wont give you that engine option.

It is a $1,295.00 option and includes the 6-speed transmission.[/align]

Damn, that makes me feel bad a little that i jumped on the new 07 right away :\

Anyway later on is it possible for an engine swap maybe? from the 5.3 to the 6.2?
Easier said than done? or just costly?

The 2WD 6.2L (L92) is just going into production with the first few vehicles going to Las Vegas and Phoenix.

Thats a hell of a bargain. But then again you will pay for it with MPG. Either way I would love to have one!!!!

After they get a number of them, do you think they'll add to 4WD eventually?

Yep, the 6.2L 4X4 may even make it into late 2008 model year production; but 09 for sure.

ZX, do you know if it will be a "true" 4WD or will it be AWD like the Denali/Escalade?

The reason for the 2WD being offered first is that the 4X4 (not AWD) system to handle the 6.2L's extra power is still in developmental test out for this 1/2-ton platform.
