Default Is 75,000 miles on a 2009 too high to consider purchase?

Hi there! I am looking to purchase a 2009 suburban, but I am having a hard time finding exactly what I want in the exterior/interior colors, ltz, etc. Anyways, I found one that fits the bill, but it has 75,000 miles on it. I've never purchased a used vehicle with 'high miles' before, so I was hoping for some feedback. How many miles can I expect to get out of it and should I stay away form one with this many miles on it? Thanks so much for any input you can give me!

Welcome to the forum

Try to get the maintenance history on it. You will have another year &/or 25K on the powertrain warranty.

My '07 had 87,000 on it when I bought it last year. At the time, it was one of only two fully loaded 3/4 ton Suburbans available within a thousand miles. I took my second choice on color, but it was close to home and the higher than average mileage brought the price down. The '93 Burb I traded in had over 200,000. So far it's been trouble-free except for the issues common to these trucks you can read about on this forum. I've done nothing more than regular maintenance, although it's about due for new shocks and maybe a muffler in the next few months.

Have it thoroughly checked before you sign the check, but if everything's OK and the price is right, I'd say go for it. An extended warranty might be a wise investment--one or two of the regulars here can recommend a good one.

Thanks for the feedback! They are asking $36,468....seems fair. Here is the link if you're interested in taking a peek at it!

And here I've been thinking I'd be the only one to buy a Suburban from a Ford dealer! The original owner of mine decided it was too much truck and traded it in for an Explorer.

If your experience is anything like I had, once they figure out that you're seriously interested they'll cut the price to the bone just to get it off their lot.

36K seems an awful lot for a vehicle with that many miles.

My 1st reaction to the ask price was WOW, seems high to me. I have an 08 loaded burb albeit an LT and trade value was 24K and I have 60k miles with all paperwork for maintenence and shows brand new with new Mich tires. I walked from the trade offer.
I think you can do better with a little negotiation.

I have been shopping for months now, and this price seems to be in-line with others I have seen, but I would certainly love to get it cheaper and will definitely start with a very low offer and go from there! This truck is about 7 hours away from me, and they are going to deliver it if I buy it, but many dealerships offer that same service and I know that the average cost (from that distance) would run around $600. NADA values it at $38,125 retail, so I know they will probably play the 'it's already at a great price' card, but I will definitely try to get them down as low as possible....I would never pay the asking price!
