Tahoe & SuburbanThe power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.
Getting ready to replace my rocker cover gaskets/(Valve cover) as one of them looks to be pinched from a re-manufacture on the back and is slightly leaking.
Getting all types of conflicting info on google.
1996 K2500 Suburban 7.4 454 Vortec
My Haynes manual says
"Rocker arm cover nuts/bolts 7.4 engine 1992-1998 is 72 in-lbs"
But all over google everyone's saying 50 in-lbs? Where is everyone getting the 50 from?
My guess is that these are 6mm x 1.0mm thread, common on valve covers like even on my 1988 Mazda truck and 1998 and 2004 Frontiers. So I would use the 71 inch-lb figure if my vehicle, just a hair under 6 ft-lbs. I bought a Harbor Freight 1/4" drive torque wrench just for such purposes.

If 1/4 inch threads, I'd treat as 6mm.
That's a good point about if its 6mm all run with that one thanks.
All confirm its a 6mm when I remove it with my bolt gauge and gently inch lb with a small husky torque wrench I've got.
