Default 96 suburban AC compressor runs when turned off

My Ac compressor on my 96 burb cycles with the fan switches in the off position and the actually button off. I know it is low on freon as it leaked out as soon as it was filled. Just need to find the dye that was put in. But anyways I don't know why it would cycle like that with everything turned off. I unplugged it for now as I don't. Want to burn up the compressor.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Robert

Usually on GM's you can't turn the fan all the way off as long as some part of the system in on. The defroster will make the A/C comp run on most modern vehicles to assist with removing moisture as long as the ambient temp isn't to cold outside. Make sure the defroster is off as well but really if there's no freon in the system then the low pressure switch should have de-activated the compressor anyway.
