96 tahoe fuel problem!?

Default 96 tahoe fuel problem!?
96 tahoe 350. Took it to the shop they told me i have bad fuel pressure, and to change the fuel pump. I changed the pump and fuel filter and its still doing the same thing. It will idle some times and when given gas it surges and backfires at times. Any suggestions?
