04' Tahoe, P0446 Code, Losing Fuel Pressure, Fuel Smell
Hey Guys,
I've searched the forum and Google for that matter for the past few days and I can't seem to find my exact same issue. So thought I would see if someone here can point me in the right direction.
04' Tahoe, 125K miles...
Was driving and got message on dash to tighten gas cap, shortly there after service engine light came on. Autozone verified P0446 code so I stated down that path, I've changed out the EVAP solenoid valve and gas cap for good measure.. Reset code and been driving for a few days and NO codes, good! Except I'm still having issues..
Symptoms: STRONG fuel odor, hard to start after sitting for a few hours. I believe there is a vapor leak (no visible fuel) someplace in the system causing strong smell, and the P0446 code. Only thing I can find close online is another person who had similar symptoms and found the fuel pump assembly was corroded around top of tank. I don't want to drop tank for inspection if I don't have to.
Shall I just go and pay for smoke test to find out?
Thanks in advance for any insight!
