Default 96 Tahoe transmission problem??? please help

Ok I have a 96 Tahoe and today I was driving and I took a turn and I heard a loud clunking noise that sounded like something jammed and I didn’t hear it for a few min after that, then I heard it again but this time I heard it about 3 or 4 times so I pulled over and checked under the truck to see if I could see anything wrong. I didn’t notice anything so I started driving again and soon after it got worse so I pulled over again stuck my head out the window to see where the sound was coming from as I drove slowly, the sound was coming from the back of the truck. I was 2 towns away from home so I decided I would try to make it back. I went probably 100 yards and had to stop for a set of lights, at this point I was on a slight incline and when I tried to accelerate the truck wouldn’t move and all I heard was the clunking sound. So I tried to put my car in park but the noise was still there and I let off the brake in park and my truck started rolling backwards. I stuck it in neutral and I still had the sound. I think it’s the tranny but im not really sure. Any insight would be very helpful.

That would be my guess too

Relatively inexpensive fix
