does any one knows of a good transmission shop please help

 

I had good luck with Ike's Transmission on Anderson Lane in Austin Texas...
The did my 97 Tahoe 4L60E

 

I should elaborate though I had them install a new one that I purchased but the cost difference wasn't all that much from what they charged to install it and what I paid for the new one from just having them rebuild my old one...~$400

 

I would recommend buying a remanufactured unit from GM, they have a much better warranty and all internal parts are new. The warranty is 3 years or 100,000. If your truck has a trans issue 1000miles away from home you can take it to any GM dealer for repair even if you bought and had it installed by a shop other then the dealer. If a trans shop rebuilds it you can only go to them for warranty work.
