98 'Burban w/Blower Motor, Switch, Problems
Newbie here. I have been reading through the posts and haven't found this one yet.
96 Chevy Suburban. Replaced the front blower motor (it was chirping), resistor (might as well since I am in there and didn't want to have to go in there when its cold), and switch. Also pulled a control module(?)(part that holds and displays environmental controls) from a junked Suburban as the old one was cracked in some way to cause the fan to go medium speed (about 3) when set in place. Blower was constantly running.
With the installed parts, the fan was actually off and would run through the different speeds. I did have a little smoke at first last night which quit (hmmm...clue?). This morning, I turn the the heater on and three or so minutes later, I get the smell of something burning. Now, when the 'Burb is running, I can't shut the blower motor off. I do have different speeds.
So, here's my question: will a faulty relay cause the resistor to overheat the pigtail on the switch and burn it out? If I replace the relay and the switch, and hopefully find another pig tail, will the system run fine or overheat again?
Thank you for your response. I just need to keep this baby running through the winter, get my old house sold, and then buy a new vehicle.
