ABS light, Speedo not working and transmission not shifting
Hi all,
Ive got a 1997 5.7L chevy suburban k1500 LT with a 4l60e
Recently its developed a few issues, it started with the speedo being out about 10mph, its a right hand drive conversion so I just assumed the speedo discrepancy was due to this. However recently the abs light started coming on when driving at low speeds and occasionally the abs pump would kick in and you'd get a pulsing through the pedal. This then quickly progressed into abs light on, the speedo needle not moving while driving and the vehicle will not shift unless you do it manually with the gear selector on the steering column.
I have an autel code reader but unfortunately cant seem to pull any codes.
I started testing the VSS as Im aware the abs, speedo and transmission all take a signal from this sensor.
I checked the wiring to the sensor and internal resistance of the sensor and it was all ok. I removed the sensor and found that the tip has been worn down/rubbing. Looks to have been rubbing against the speed gear in the transfer case.
I have searched a few forums and only found 1 other post about this.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
I would imagine this means the bushing for the transfer case output shaft has failed and I probably need to get the transfer case overhauled but is there any way to check this without dropping the transfer case?
