Default Advice for Removing Rear Drums

Trying to help a friend with 99 Suburban replace rear shoes but the drums won't come off/stuck. Any advice or tips?

tap the front and sides with a mini sledge using good firm raps it should loosen it off, after side and front taps, tap it off by the back lip fairly ligtly as not to wreck it

piquone: Welcome to the forum.

Also you need to back the shoes off a little cuz there is usually a lip on the edge of the drum. Might try some Kroil or other penetrant around the lugs. I have seen a drum puller that looks like a large gear puller.
