AFM or DOD system on chevy or GM complain Solution
Welcome all .
This is my first participation in this forum and I apologize for my poor English since I am an Arab from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
I am a fan of American cars GM and Chevy
And I own them all

Today I will talk about a problem that has bothered me in the Tahoe for a month, which is that the car switches from V8 to V4 repeatedly and quickly and under conditions that I feel are wrong and causes a slur in the engine, especially during acceleration in order to overtake, to the point that the engine sign flashing in dash and then disappears.
The car has traveled 250,000 km
Every time I go to the dealer and they get the code
P0300 random misfire
Since the spark plugs and wires are new, I did not find a solution from the dealer other than opening the engine head to check the cams and lifters if its broken or else , so I refused that because I am certain that there is no sound in the engine
Especially when I drive the car in manual mode, it is excellent, except for the last gear #6.
then I ask myself what the relation between gear#6 and automatic mode driving ?
the answer ( AFM or DOD system )
this is my complain during the driving not the engine
Then I read your forum and everyone was complaining about the AFM or DOD system and everyone wanted to disable it. I had this idea, and I actually went to a programmer and he disabled it using the HP tuner on the computer (50$)
I tested the car for 3 days in order to test the car and make sure that the engine sign did not appear on the screen.
In fact, it did not appear, and the driving was very enjoyable.
NOW I AM SURE MY ENGINE IS PERFECT
my problem now is with AFM or DOD system like other people who want to disabling the system
I was saying why GM uses this system in order to save a gallon of fuel in a month, and in my country, fuel is cheap, but one of the mechanical engineers advised me that if the system was activated in the future for any reason, the lifters would definitely be damaged, and you must restore the system as quickly as possible.
I actually felt worried and went to that programmer and asked him to reactivate the system (AFM or DOD)
He asked me why you changed your mind, so I told him what had happened between me and the engineer, and he said what he said was true. He asked me about my problem, so I explained it to him. He smiled broadly and said, “I can activate the system within a certain speed range 😮 instead of canceling it, but I will solve your problem in just two minutes.” But answer my question.
So I said what is the question? He said: When you bought the car from the dealer and drove it, did you have a problem with the AFM or DOD system? So I said no. He said, “I will handle the problem as if you had just used it from the dealer. ” So he programmed it by reduce the delay of the throttle. After that, I tried the car and it was really as if I had now used it from the dealer.
Conclusion
Do not disable the AFM or DOD system, rather program the delay of the throttle response and your driving will be normal.
