AFM - Am I doing the right thing for my new 5.3L V8??
First time forum poster: So, my 2011 Avalanche is new to me as of last month; awesome truck, awesome price with only 34,000 miles. (So pristine, I think it was previously owned by Ted Turner!)
But I bought it with a bit of hesitance, because I'd read plenty about the crap Chevy engineering of the V8 AFM system, knocking down the engine from 8 to 4 cylinders. ( BTW I don't give a crap about fuel savings.)
Q: First thing I'm doing is plugging in a Range Technology afm disabler -- am I doing the right thing installing this device? At 34k, am I too late?

imo all the afm problems were resolved by nov 2009 by gm engineering. Since you build if well after that date; all of the updated parts came installed from day one. I would leave it.
check into the build dates of those who have reported problems...they are for the most part all 08-09's.
