Default What is my transmission doing?!?!?!

I bought my car back in march- the transmission (Muncie 4spd) had a slight whine (probably) The glasspacks I had on made the car so loud that I wouldn't have been able to hear it if it had been whining.

Over time, it's started to make a raspy grinding noise. It's a noise that makes my soul die a little inside- not because it's loud, but because it sounds so.... not right.

Changed the gear oil- there was a little under 2q in there, filled it up with Royal Purple (3 1/2q, about).
Sounded great for about an hour, and started again.

There is a small gear oil leak coming from somewhere towards the front (thinking the seal?) but not enough to be significantly worried about yet.

When I go over 90, the actual stick shakes back and forth and there's a loud, sick, clicking sound, and the whining of the transmission is worse.

At first it was only 2nd & 3rd that it would whine in, now it's 2, 3 & 4th. It doesn't whine when I'm in neutral.

I don't have a problem with slipping gears or anything, but it's a pain the *** to get into reverse, and sometimes I have to gas it a little bit to coax it into gear.

I'm not the brightest about cars yet, and it seems just when I learn how to do something, my car is like "aha!!! lets see if you can fix THIS!!!! you can't??? YES!!!!"

So... if anyone can help, that would be amazing, just so I know what I'm dealing with. I'm probably going to have to have someone else fix it, yes, but I would like to know instead of just driving it up to the shop and telling them "yeah, my transmission is grinding and whining. Fix it. "

Thank you for your time, gentlemen I can't wait to get the big ugly back in top condition!
