Default After rotate tires, relearning tire pressure sensor won't work

Hello my friends and specialists. I have one problem.

I had a set of 4 Summer rims and had to replace the tires. So, as we stick them back on my Thaoe, I had no problems with the tire air monitoring system. But we had to move the front rims to back and back to front. At the time when the new rims are stick on my Tahoe all sensor showing pressure. But I was pushing the relearn option on my Dashboard, because I was plan to set the right position.

Now I was starting to relearn the air sensor. But now my problem is that, I not get them back in display. I was doing the process, by pushing relearn and start unflate from the position left front but nothing happens. So I try to inflate them. Starting again. Then I use my sensor tester as shown in the picture. Also, here nothing want work. I was lower the pressure from 34psi 2,5 bar down to 1,6 bar. No beep. One time I had one situation that in time I was inflated the left front tire the one beep comes and the signal switch forward to right front turn signal. But also there I was unflate the tire for more than 40sec nothing happens. I was try to use tech2 to find the ecu but I have no idea under which step I would find the tire monitoring system. So do you have any idea how I could relearn the sensor and solve the Light in dash also the information "service tire monitoring system". I am now at the end of my experience.

I was checking now with my Tech2 and i find the option to start relearn process over the Scan Software, but also here if I reduce the pressure on my tire nothing would show me on my Display at the dashboard. So i have no Idea how i would program the TPMS Sensors with TECH 2. Because relearn process only would work if Sensors will showing some PSI. But mine don't show anything.

Thank you so much for your help Greetings Markus From Germany

I'm thinking your tire pressure is way too low. 2.5 bar is only 37 psig.

Ok my friend Thanks for your Information.

I have the tires 275 55 20 which pressure do you recommend? Because at Google they told me that 35psi would be normal range for the Tahoe. But I think this is to low or ?

Greetings Markus

I always let the air out or put air in until it registers the change. I thought it wasn't working once but I wasn't waiting long enough.

Thank you. But i was letting the air out more than 30 seconds and nothing happens. Today i was checking the Tire pressures sensor information with tech2 and only one senor showing me the right pressure after i was driving over 40mph but the others are still not sending anything. So i will go over to my car shop. Higher the Pressure over 45psi and then start the learning process again. Hope it would work.

What year is the vehicle? The batteries may just be too low due to age. I had to replace the tpms devices in my wheels after about 7 years. 3 stopped responding within a month of each other.

My Tahoe is an 2007 and the crazy thing was after we install the new tires on my Tahoe all 4 Sensor showing psi pressure in the display. Only after I was pushing the relearn button nothing would work. In tech2 all sensor would showing ad ok but only RF Tire sensor would transmit the data to the display after I drive over 40mph.

If they are the original sensors, I'm surprised the batteries lasted 12+ years. I replaced mine back in the summer of 2014. I used the ones that came with the rubber valve stems. One wouldn't seal well and was leaking air so I found out that they sell the aluminum valve stem for them that uses a rubber bushing and nut to hold them into the wheel. No leaks since.

They aren't very expensive. About 40 USD for all 4 with the rubber stems. I picked up the aluminum stems from the local parts store.

I did mine myself so labor was free. The hardest part was breaking the bead. I used the trailer hitch, jack and blocks of wood to break the bead in the sensor location the first time. When I replaced the valve stems, I used a harbor freight manual tire changing machine. No need to rebalance as long as the tire stays in the same position on the wheel.

I agree with Kchevy75 about the battery statement he mentioned. Perhaps a tire shop near you can test the sensor batteries with their hand held device. Good luck. *BW*

Poertsch,

TPMS common Problem Solutions

Is tire pressure equal to Placard?
Check the air pressure. The air pressure has to be set at what the tire placard indicates NOT what the tire side wall says.

Are old sensors in or around vehicle?
Make sure the old sensors are not in the car or near the car when doing the relearning.

Did you wake up the sensors as instructed?
Deflate the tire let it sit for at least 5 minutes then reflate tire to what the placard indicates before doing the relearning. (That wakes up the sensor protocols due to the ability of going into sleep mode after 20 min of inactivity)

If your sensors are bad, you can always check our website oewheelsllc.com, we offer a variety TPMs Sensors at great prices.
