Default Aftermarket Shocks

I own a 1999 2WD 4Dr Tahoe with 66,000 miles and either my original shocks are losing some impact upon the ride or I am getting old (very likely) and the ride seems to be getting rougher and more truck like. What after marker shocks have been successfully used to soften the ride and still keep the Tahoe safe?
