Default Air Leveling Defeat?

is there a way to shut off the air leveling?

when launching / retrieving my boat, the tahoe sticks it's *** end all the way up on the boat ramp, causing the trailer to be way outta whack...

I'm looking at a 6" drop hitch; but the manual says nothing about defeating this 'feature'...

it's fine on the road or level and is working 100% without any error, but its making launching / retrieving the boat damn near impossible...

thanks!

My Burb also has air leveling, and I've launched a boat with it a few times. I've never experienced a problem with ride height when launching, and I've launched on concrete ramps, sand beaches and gravel beaches (some requiring low range to get out of!). I've also been launching boats for 12 years.

First off, the rear of the truck shouldn't be any higher when on the boat launch than it is when going down the highway. The air system is to keep the rear-end at the correct ride height regardless of load (to a point, anyway). Second, defeating the system (assuming it's for the purpose of making the rear-end drop down) may not be good for the suspension components. I'd think it'd be hard on the air shocks and springs (and possibly sway bar and bushings and a bunch of other complicated and expensive stuff), since the truck isn't designed to ride that low, especially under load.

One thing to consider: tow/haul mode makes the rear of the truck ride slightly higher and much stiffer, because it assumes you have a load (go figure lol). When you go to launch, make sure you turn off tow/haul first. It may help a little.

Other than that, get a lower drop hitch - assuming it will still go down the road ok and won't bottom out pulling into driveways and such.

I had to put a 9" drop hitch on mine just to get the right hitch height. The leveling system should just keep the truck at the same height regardless of load. If it's not, then something is wrong. Maybe it's in that voice command thingy.

Default tow

Yea; i will try the drop hitch...

yea about that voice command thingy... they have 1 week left!

Then I will have my friend make me some window stickers (he owns a sign printing company) that say 'GM SOLD ME A LEMON AND WON'T FIX IT' in big white letters across the back of my black tahoe.

Then I will park it outside the dealer that sold it to me offering free hot dogs and advice to people buying GM products.

of course, if GM would just fix the damn sat nav, I'd be more than happy to just go away.

I even told them, hey, cut me a check for $1,000.00 and I'd go away.

or... JUST FIX IT... 4 months later next wednesday!

I go all out when a company pisses me off... I had the BBB and the PA attourney General involved when Enterprise-Rent-a-wreck tried to take me for $50.00... guess how much they got? $0.00...

I told the guy flat out on the phone when they called about 'alleged damage' that they should just drop it... and that they'd never see a penny... 3 weeks later... I was right.

The only thing I think you can do is move/bend your sensors to "trick" the truck into thinking that it's level already at a lower height.

I put 2" drop springs in the rear, and the sensors had to be relocated, or else the truck will always be trying to compensate for the drop. I don't see why you couldn't relocate your sensors to do the same thing.
